Our Materials
At Indilisi, we choose our materials with care and intention.
Each fabric and material we use is thoughtfully selected to support sustainability, regenerative practices, and social responsibility.
Our core material principles guide us in sourcing the best natural and renewable materials, prioritising organic cotton, circular design principles, fair trade pillars and ethical production techniques.
Our Core Material Principles
-
1.
Choose natural and renewable materials (that have been grown from the soil), as opposed to man-made synthetic fibres.
-
2.
Prioritise single fiber composition materials, rather than blended poly-cotton difficult-to-recycle-blends.
-
3.
Opt for certified organic, Fairtrade cotton from trusted partners, over opaque conventional fibres or synthetics.
-
4.
Support social enterprises that work tothe World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) 10- Fair Trade principles.

Organic Cotton Clothing
We use certified organic cotton yarn, which is then handwoven and stitched into unique timeless, handcrafted clothing.
We aim to minimise processing steps and unnecessary transportation to maximise the benefits to our produces and to minimise miles travelled wherever possible.

Natural or Biodegradable Accessories
Our clothing features natural buttons made with mother of pearl or natural coconut shells.

Surplus Fabrics
Our fabric range is GOTS organic and Fairtrade certified cotton fabrics.
Imported from one of our trusted partners by sea freight, this facility uses 70% renewable energy and gold standard water management practices.
It is available to buy by the meter or in bulk. These traceable fabrics are perfect for makers, designers and brands producing in the UK.

Upcycled Waste Textiles
We are also developing a range of GRS certified recycled cotton yarn using cotton factory waste and working with handweaving groups supporting female artisans.
This range will be released in the next phase. Join our mailing list to be the first to hear.
Working With Our Artisans
We believe it is important to take into consideration the local needs of communities and partners. This means choosing long term relationships over short term projects, finding ways to add value to livelihoods and impact on the ground and working with partners towards best practice.
